Community Art & Placemaking Around Capac

The Village of Capac is introducing a new art & placemaking program to our community. Through this program, local & regional artists and community groups will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and contribute to the beautification of public spaces. By infusing art into our everyday surroundings, we hope to foster a sense of pride and inspire a deeper connection with our village.

Whether it's a colorful mural, a handmade bench on a trail, or a unique sculpture in a park, these artistic installations will serve as visual reminders of our village's rich heritage and creative spirit. Moreover, the art & placemaking program will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of our village but also attract visitors, promoting economic growth for local businesses.

As we embark on this artistic journey, we invite local artists and residents to participate in this exciting program and make the Village of Capac an even more vibrant and inspiring place to live, work, and visit.

What Are We Looking For?

We are looking to have both temporary art pieces and permanent displays. We will be looking to display 2 - 4 medium to large scale sculptures, create murals for a rotating display, and support more permanent community based placemaking projects.

If you are an artist who makes sculptures or murals, contact us here.

Sculptures

We want to showcase sculptures made by artists from nearby areas in a outdoor public setting for everyone to enjoy.

Our aim is to bring in fresh sculptures every year to keep things exciting.

We will also create display signage with QR links to purchase displayed art.

Murals

We would like to have murals created by local or regional artists in selected areas around the village of Capac.

We will supply the surface for the mural display and we will be taking applications for artists.

Much like the sculptures, we want to create new murals annually and potentially sell the retired murals for the artists.

Placemaking

We would like to introduce placemaking efforts of semi-permanent crafts and small art pieces or collections around the village.

These projects would be created by local community groups and volunteers.

These may be efforts downtown, on a new art hiking trail, or other places in the village.

How can you help?

If you’re looking to support our art & placemaking efforts, we’re happy to have you! There are a few ways for our citizens to assist.

Make Things

We plan on having placemaking projects made by local groups and artisans to keep on more permanent display.

Does your Rotary Club or 4H or Girl Scout troop or church group or art class want to contribute to our effort?

Are you a local craftsperson or artist?

Contact us here.

Volunteer

It’s always great to have some helping hands. If you’re someone who loves the arts or just wants to see cool new things in the village, we’d love to hear from you.

Even if you don’t consider yourself creative, you can help. We will need volunteers to help with several aspects of the project.

Promote

If you like the project, tell your neighbors about it, let people at work know, tell your friends and family about it. Be a promotor.

Share our posts about the project, sign up to get news updates, and just bring some positive energy to the new project.

Where will the art be placed?

We have a few areas of the Village where we think the art & placemaking project will be most effective and beneficial to residents and visitors alike.

Whistle Stop Park

Capac Library

Four Corners

Lions Nature Trail
